Our mission is to promote the love of English language theatre in Montreal, and to provide opportunities for new and emerging artists in Montreal to hone their craft.

Mandate:

In order to achieve our mission, we intend to put on regular seasons of theatrical productions in different communities within Montreal, and to focus our casting process on giving chances to performers who lack professional experience and who will benefit from both experience and training. We will produce shows both musical and non-musical to create better opportunities to reach out to artists with different types of training and background, and to diversify the sorts of presentations we’ll offer to the community. We will also pursue school outreach to bring theatre—especially Shakespeare—to high school programs with a special emphasis on demonstrating that Shakespeare can be interesting and accessible to young people. Additionally, we will offer community workshops, discussion groups, and special presentations to offer opportunities for the community to get involved in the theatre.

History:

In January 2017, Snowglobe mounted their premiere performance of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. It was met with great success and only room to grow. Following that, in December 2017, Snowglobe’s sophomore show was an original adaptation of His Girl Friday, the classic 1940 film. The adaptation was written by Peter Giser blending the film and the stage play The Front Page along with new material as well. The 2017-2018 season was book-ended with an enchanting double-bill of two operas: The Medium and Riders to the Sea in April 2018. Beginning the summer 2018, Jean Paul Sartre’s existential drama No Exit will heat up Mainline Theatre in July.

Moving forward, Snowglobe looks forward to sharing more theatre with Montreal, and continuing to produce varietal and important plays for our growing audience.
